Functional Medicine is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness. By addressing the root cause, rather than symptoms, practitioners become oriented to identifying the complexity of disease. Functional Medicine treatment targets the specific manifestations of disease in each individual.

Functional Medicine Practitioners start by asking you to complete a thorough health history assessment prior to your first visit. They will review your health history, and then spend time getting to know you, identify your health goals, and may order comprehensive lab tests as needed to determine deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and gut microbiome insufficiencies that are often the underlying cause of symptoms. Practitioners will then customize a healthy living plan for you. Treatment may include nutritional supplements, adjustments for dietary needs, and movement and lifestyle changes.
