Nutrition plays a vital role in disease prevention, maintaining, and improving overall health. Medical nutrition therapy can be effective in treating various conditions, such as fertility issues, food sensitivities, hormone imbalances, mood disorders, skin problems (including acne, eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea), stubborn weight, and thyroid issues. Whether you require specialized support for clinical conditions, or are simply looking to improve your diet, the nutrition staff at The Wellness Collective can assist you in achieving your goals.
Our team offers comprehensive nutrition assessments, and tailored nutrition counseling for a variety of health issues, including:
*Medical nutrition therapy for clinical diseases and disorders
*Personalized dietary instructions and meal planning for conditions such as diabetes, celiac disease, hypertension, GI disorders, and overweight/obesity
*Education and support to address concerns such as controlling blood pressure, lowering cholesterol, weight loss/management, heart disease, pediatric/adolescent growth, and sports participation/physical performance.
*We support practical concerns, such as budget, meal prepping, recipe modifications, and cooking techniques – tailored to your needs and preferences.
When you visit a dietitian, they will begin by conducting an initial assessment to identify potential risks associated with both malnutrition and over-nutrition. They will review your medical and food-related history and may conduct a nutrition-focused physical exam (including anthropometric measurements), and/or order lab tests to determine deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and gut microbiome issues that may be contributing to your symptoms. Based on this information, they will create a customized healthy living plan for you, which may include dietary adjustments, nutritional supplements, and lifestyle changes.
To schedule an appointment for Nutrition Therapy, we need a diagnosis from a primary practitioner. If patients have Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Medica, Medicaid, Medicare, or United, they may schedule by calling 605-271-5640 and have their doctor email or fax a referral, that includes a diagnosis, to our office.
For patients with Avera and Blue Cross, you may pay a cash rate, which is 10% off of the cost of the service, or you can first schedule with one of our functional medicine nurse practitioners, who can assess, diagnose, and make a referral for nutrition services. This extra step allows us to submit claims to your insurance.
